display at the Museum through August to
support the new IMAX® film Space Station
3D.
IT’S WRITTEN IN THE STARS
Visitors will have the opportunity to see
these original pieces of international space
history as they exit the Blockbuster® IMAX®
Theater on the second floor of the Museum.
The exhibit will display Russian and
American space suits, space gloves, an
original launch key from the Soyuz shuttle,
a main control panel from the Toru Docking
System, an authentic space hammer, and
flight helmets from various countries.
Models originally made for the Russian Space
Agency will also be on display along with an
actual cockpit window from the Buran Space
Shuttle. All artifacts are documented and
will be accompanied by detailed descriptions
of their origin and purpose.
ABOUT THE COLLECTOR, RICK NEWMAN
Richard Newman, owner of
HighTechScience.org, has been involved with
and intrigued by science and space since he
was a young boy scout. Over the years Newman
has formed relationships with many
astronauts, cosmonauts and numerous space
agencies from around the world. This has
resulted in his extensive Out-of-This-World
Collection which he generously shares with
science museums, science centers, schools
and symposiums around the world. For
more information about Richard Newman and
his space artifacts, visit his website at www.HighTechScience.org.
ABOUT SPACE STATION 3D
Narrated by multi-Academy Award® nominee
Tom Cruise, SPACE STATION 3D transports
audiences 220 miles above Earth to
experience life in space. As audiences
blast off, they are joined by the astronauts
and cosmonauts who directed and filmed their
in-orbit assembly of the International Space
Station. “This is the first time that
audiences will have the all encompassing
view that only astronauts and cosmonauts are
privileged to experience. The camera
actually puts you right there, with them,
moving around and floating in space,” said
SPACE STATION 3D producer Toni Myers. “The
IMAX 3D footage captures the excitement and
magnitude of this amazing project being
built in outer space in a way that no other
medium can.”
