Viktor Petrovich Savinykh flew on 3 flights. He spent a total of 252 days in space and completed over 5 hours of EVA's (space walks).

This picture was dedicated to us and autographed by Cosmonaut Savinykh.

He is one of  the greatest cosmonauts of all time.

Viktor Savinykh

He was born on March 7, 1940 in the Russian city of Berezkiny and was trained as an engineer. During his 10 year carrier, Soviet cosmonaut Viktor Savinykh participated in 3 space missions and spent over 252 days on MIR, Salyut-6 and Salyut-7 stations. His Soyuz T-13/Salyut-7 flight was the most dangerous mission in space history. The bravery involved in this mission far exceeded anything previously exhibited in space. Viktor Savinykh was twice awarded with Gold Stars of Hero of the Soviet Union, with Tsiolkovskiy gold star of the USSR Academy of Science and several other Soviet and foreign awards for distinguished accomplishments in science and space exploration. He also is the author of several scientific books a number of popular books on Space Exploration. At present he works in Russia with the Government University of Geodetic Engineering and Aerial Photography and Cartography.

Here is Cosmonaut Savinykh autographing several Russian spacecraft models for our collection.
