in Mt. Vernon, Washington.

This camp is operated by the
Mt. Baker Council
Boy Scouts of America

Here are some pictures of the Fire Mountain Science & Technology Center.

Building an Ecosystem

Oil Spill Demonstration

The Science Center is currently undergoing a remodeling.

An enlargement and remodel of the center will include a computer lab with access to the internet, and a wealth of Nature, Science and Technology CD-ROM based interactive learning programs. The center will be displaying hundreds of rocks, fossils, and minerals, as well as providing a space exploration program. Scouts will have the opportunity to find a radioactive marble using a real Geiger counter, see an astronaut suit, and view a wide variety of nature, ecology, and space video tapes and Digital Video Disks (DVD) on a beautiful new Television, VCR and DVD player. A full service weather forecasting system will replace the time-honored Fire Mountain weather rock with up-to the minute weather forecast information and instruction about weather patterns.

The Fire Mountain Scout Reservation
is open year round and is located in Mount Vernon, Washington.
The camp is owned & operated by the Mt. Baker Boy Scout Council.

Camas Lodge is the heart of The High-Tech Productions.com Science and Technology Center at Fire Mountain and is one of the busiest areas of camp. Located on a hill above a swamp land, the environment creates a wonderful teaching ground for Scouts and leaders. Scouts are taught using creative teaching techniques that make the environmental studies exciting. Scouts can take nature hikes, perform nature experiments, and earn many nature Merit Badges. Each week the Nature team offers a "Bite of Nature" in the main part of camp where Scouts, leaders and staff can learn to enjoy the flavorful nature around them often including nettle tea and many other delicacies.

The programs associated with the Science and Technology Center are being developed right now, and the Center will be open for all Scouts during the Summer of 2003. The High-Tech Productions.com Science and Technology Center will also be open for several weekends a year, staffed with volunteers from the Fire Mountain Staff Alumni Association, Venture Crew 407, and a variety of other council volunteers. If you have an interest in helping to develop fall, winter and spring program at the High-Tech Productions.com Science and Technology Center, please contact the camps Program Director

Because of the Boy Scouts continued policy of discrimination, we will no longer be supporting the Boy Scouts of America.

You can blame the IDIOTS at the
National Scouting Headquarters in Texas for this.

Feel free to call them at (972) 580-2000 to voice your
opionion of how they have ruined a great organization.
